Online Giving FAQs

1. HOW CAN MY CHURCH START GIVING ONLINE?

We’ve made signing up fast and easy.

Step 1: Register your church

Complete our online form at www.bfok.org/OnlineGiving.

Step 2: Upload a voided check

After registering for an Online Giving account, you'll be prompted to upload an image of a voided check through ShareFile, our secure file sharing site. A photo of the check taken with your mobile phone works well. We’ll use this information to electronically deposit online gifts to your church’s checking or savings account.

2. HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE FROM THE TIME I REGISTER MY CHURCH TO THE TIME MY CONGREGATION CAN BEGIN GIVING ONLINE?

Once you’ve completed the online form and uploaded an image of a voided check, our team will create your account and provide a link to your church’s giving page. This process takes 2 business days or less.

3. HOW DO I LET MY CONGREGATION KNOW ONLINE GIVING IS AN OPTION?

Download or link to our handy online giving guide and share it with your church to make it easy for them to start giving. You can find this guide at www.bfok.org/OnlineGivingGuide.

If possible, we recommend sharing the online giving guide in ways your congregation is already accustomed to receiving information from your church. For example, you can share the link to the guide on your church’s social media pages and website, as well as email and text.

4. WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS FOR MY CHURCH?

The Foundation’s online giving tool allows your church to quickly deploy an online giving solution to your congregation, faciliting church members' ability to give regular tithes and offerings without being physically present. Online gifts can be made by credit or debit card, or by electronic check (e-check).

5. WHAT IS THE COST OF THE ONLINE GIVING SERVICE TO MY CHURCH?

Unlike online giving options offered by other providers, The Foundation does not charge churches or donors to use Online Giving and generates no revenue whatsoever from the service. However, we do rely on a third-party vendor to process online gifts made by credit and debit card. This third-party vendor charges a per gift fee of 2.9% of the gift amount, which is deducted from the gift.

6. WHAT IS THE COST OF THE SERVICE TO THE DONOR?

There is no cost for church members who give online through the Foundation. However, a third-party, 2.9% processing fee applies to gifts made by credit or debit card. This fee does not apply to gifts made by electronic check (e-check).

7. DOES ONLINE GIVING REQUIRE A CONTRACT OR COMMITMENT?

No. There is no obligation of any kind associated with Online Giving, which means your church is free to start (or stop) using online giving whenever you like.

7. HOW DO I ACCESS FUNDS GIVEN ONLINE?

Accessing your funds is simple. Our team will electronically transfer the funds to your account using the banking information you provided when you registered your church.

8. HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR MY CHURCH TO RECEIVE FUNDS ONCE AN ONLINE GIFT HAS BEEN MADE?

We will electronically deposit online gifts into your church’s bank account on a weekly basis, each Wednesday. This will allow you to receive funds faster than most other online giving platforms.

9. HOW WILL THESE GIFTS BE RECEIPTED FOR TAX PURPOSES?

Church members will receive an automated charitable giving receipt by email when the gift is made, further reducing the administrative burden on your church.

10. WILL I BE ABLE TO SEE CHURCH MEMBER CONTRIBUTIONS BY NAME AND AMOUNT?

Yes, you will be given online access to your church’s account. This will allow you to view contributions and statements. However, you will not be able to view a donor's name and/or donation amount if he/she has elected to remain anonymous.

11. HOW WILL I KNOW IF/WHEN SOMEONE MAKES A GIFT, AND CHECK THE BALANCE OF MY ACCOUNT?

Your church will be given online access to the church’s account where you can view this information.

12. WILL ONLINE GIFTS BE RESTRICTED OR DESIGNATED IN ANY WAY?

You will be able to use these gifts for whatever purpose is most needed by your ministry. There are no restrictions or designations, and the funds can be fully withdrawn at any time for any purpose.

13. CAN CHURCH MEMBERS SET UP RECURRING ONLINE GIFTS?

Yes. With only a few extra clicks, church members can set up recurring online gifts, allowing them to give on a routine, regularly scheduled basis. They can customize the amount and frequency of payments to be consistent with their personal giving patterns. Alternatively, they can also choose to make one-time gifts.
